Travelhouseuk welcomes Air Zimbabwe’s return to London skies after a 14-year hiatus. It will be a great step towards easier and direct connections for the diaspora community.
Air Zimbabwe is returning with direct flights from London Gatwick to Harare. It marks a significant step in the airline’s long-awaited efforts to fly back to the UK. The service is tentatively scheduled to begin on 22nd July.
With years of experience connecting travellers to destinations across Africa, Travelhouseuk is well-placed to help them book flights on this newly announced route as soon as it becomes available. Bookings are open from 13th July. Book early to secure your place on this direct service.
The new connection addresses a major gap between the two countries. Nearly 190,000 passengers travelled between the UK and Zimbabwe via one- or two-stop flights in 2025. The majority of flights are managed via hubs like Addis Ababa, Johannesburg, Kigali and Luanda.
The restoration of direct services from LGW to Harare is a major milestone for Zimbabwe’s flag carrier. Previously, the airline operated 6x-weekly flights between the two cities, which were last served in early 2012. Later, the airline suspended the route due to financial constraints. The return will significantly reduce inconvenient layovers on homecoming flights.
