When we talk about the Philippines it is mostly about its capital Manila or the historical gemstone of Cebu, but there is another remote place in the country that is fast becoming the most favourite destination for tourists. Since the discovery of giant whale sharks in its waters, Donsol has suddenly become the darling of the tourists in the Philippines. Thousands of visitors head to Donsol each year, especially around Easter to see these amazing gigantic aquatic creatures.<\/p>\n

To reach this amazing place you will have to take a c<\/strong>heap fligh<\/strong>t to <\/strong>philippines<\/strong> <\/a>(Click Now) and from there to Donsol if you are travelling from outside the Philippines, and from there either you can get a seat in the daily bus service that runs from Manila to Donsol or you can hire your own car for this journey. Until the discovery of the whales, Donsol was only a remote and peaceful fishing village and you can still get a glimpse of the ordinary life of the Donsol fishermen. The first thing to do in Donsol is to get yourself registered at the Donsol Visitor Center located 1.5 km from the village. There will be a small registration fee for your stay in the village while you\u2019ll also be booking the boat for your tour to the sea from this centre. It also provides the equipment for snorkelling but the equipment is limited and is available for only one session per person plus the cost of renting is high, so what we recommend is that you take your own snorkelling equipment with you,<\/p>\n

The number of whales in the waters of Donsol is large so it\u2019s not a matter that you will see them or not but how many of them will you see. The boat with a seasoned guide will take you to the places that have the abundance of these huge mammals especially if you pay them a small tip. Snorkelling along with these gigantic blue-black whales is surely a fascinating experience but if you want to keep up with them then you need to be really good at snorkelling and of course in a good physical shape. Scuba diving is not allowed in Donsol waters, so there is no need to take the equipment with you. You can stay at the small resorts around the area which provide decent facilities at a cheap price.
