Watching a 1708 meters wide river falling 180 meters vertically is surely a scene that one cannot forget for a long time; the Victoria Falls has become famous for this sight worldwide since its discovery in the 17th<\/sup> century. Its African name means \u201cThe Smoke that Thunders\u201d and rightly so as the massive amount of water falling down from such a huge height causes thunder, smoke, swirl and sight that you will not see in any other place on earth.\u00a0 It is shared by two countries, Zimbabwe holds the eastern part of the falls while the western part comes under Zambia\u2019s Jurisdiction. It is a famous tourist destination since the first resort opened here in 1905.<\/p>\n

You can access the Victoria Falls from both Zambia and Zimbabwe depending upon your preferences. If you decide to go to Zambia then you can take a direct flight to Lusaka the capital of the country and then take a two-hour ride to Livingstone the town close to the Victoria Falls. KLM, Air France, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airways offer cheap flights to Lusaka. If your preference is Zimbabwe then you can take a direct flight to Harare with Air Zimbabwe. Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airways also offer cheap flights to Harare<\/a>. From Harare, you can either take a domestic flight to Victoria Falls or take a ride.<\/p>\n

As one gets closer to the falls the rumble of the water falling on the rocks becomes more and more evident. To observe the fall closely, it is a good idea to rent a raincoat from the shops around the fall for not getting soaked in the water that is jumping in the form of drops after falling from such a great height. If it is a clear sunny day there (which most of the time is) you will be able to witness a beautiful rainbow created in the waterfall.<\/p>\n

If you are fond of adventure sports and are daring enough then you can go for bungee jumping from the top of the falls. The equipment is available on rent in many shops around the park. There are many resorts at the falls that offer good accommodation at different prices, choose one that meets your budget.<\/p>\n
