According to Mr. David Mwenga, General Manager for Europe & UK, The Zimbabwean Airline, Air Zimbabwe will be flying tonight after long weeks of strike, that shook not only its internal structure but also left a scar on the airline\u2019s reputation. The losses resulted by this strike are incalculable however, as the airline is resuming its schedule tonight, hopes are high that the carrier will be a success in the coming peak season.<\/p>\n
Mr. Mwenga expressed with joy while speaking with a Travel House UK spokesperson that:<\/p>\n
‘We are happy and relieved to announce that Air Zimbabwe pilots strike has ended’<\/em>.<\/p>\n In its official notification the airline stated:<\/p>\n Flights number UM724\/20APR between Harare and London is operating in the evening and Air Zimbabwe flight UM725\/21Apr from London Gatwick and Harare, Zimbabwe is to operate at normal timings.<\/p>\n The company requested its passengers to await further updates and contact Air Zimbabwe for rescheduling incase of closer dates.<\/p>\n The airline has recently taken the step further, by hiring air craft model Boeing 737-500 from a neighboring country airline as said on VOA. Also, during the strike the Air Zimbabwe staff objected about operating the old aircrafts.<\/p>\n By leasing this modern jet for its fleet, the Airline has taken a much anticipated step and the action is openly commended by Airline Industry\u2019s leading figures.<\/p>\n The modern airplane, will allow the airline in stabilizing its popular Harare-London route and the other International route between Harare and Beijing.<\/p>\n Apart from that as suggested by the experts, Air Zimbabwe should deal with its internal management issues first.
