Saint Thomas is an island in the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea. Other neighboring islands are Saint Croix, Saint John and Water Island. Covering an area of about 81 square kilometers this is a small yet a very beautiful island and a popular tourist destination. Charlotte Amalie is the capital and the main port of the island.<\/p>\n

Another attraction of this city is the presence of many historical buildings. Charlotte Amalie also hosts one of the two airports in the United States Virgin Islands the Cyril E. King Airport providing services for flights to St Thomas<\/a> and nearby islands like St John and also serves for British Virgin Islands.<\/p>\n Water Island is the smallest island in the United States Virgin Islands with an area of about 491.5 acres. With a population of about 200 it is a residential island. Water Island is a sub district of Saint Thomas. Several homes are available for accommodation needs of tourists and travelers visiting this island. Main attractions include beaches and a partially constructed underground fort named \u201cFort Segarra\u201d.<\/p>\n Built by the U.S. during the Second World War this fort was being built with a purpose to protect the submarine base on Saint Thomas but as the war ended before its completion so the construction was also stopped.
