London might be filled with huge amusement parks, mesmerizing high rise buildings and attractive sites but every Christmas season this one specific house in Wiltshire gains the most attention at the sheer beauty it exhibits. Alex Goodhind, 30, decorates his house with more than 200,000 lights every year in order to raise money for the Dorothy House Hospice.<\/p>\n
For those who love spending their Christmas discovering the English capital, they should get their cheap flights to London arranged so they can now admire this lovely house. Alex spends weeks prepping his house up for the decorations which include setting up the lights through almost 2000 feet of electric cable.<\/p>\n
Other equipment used are 650 feet of steel restraining wire, 2000 cable ties and 70 waterproof connection boxes. It takes him a good five weeks to set it all up but with the help of his neighbours he does get through with it every time. The arrangement does come up with financial burdens though, adding about 1000 pounds to his electricity bill but Alex is of the opinion that it is all worth it.<\/p>\n

The proceeds from the setup are all donated to the Dorothy House Hospice, which Alex has a special affiliation with because his late mother was treated there before she passed away. In all the seventeen years he has been decorating his house, Alex has been able to raise an amount of over fifteen thousand pounds for the hospice.<\/p>\n
This, above the admiration and praise of countless visitors, is his major inspiration of keeping the festivity going year after year. He did take a break for two years though, in 2010 and 2011, because of the burden that came along with the work. However he reignited the lights in 2012 for the noble cause and ended up obtaining up to 4000 pounds.<\/p>\n
Alex admits he would not be able to pull this off without the help of his neighbours. Although there were a few that enjoyed the relaxation that came when he stopped lighting up his house for a couple of years, most of the community in Wiltshire enjoy the occasion and even help him set up the arrangements.
