There are several festivals, both cultural and religious, that take place in Thailand all year round. But one of the most wonderful festivals is called the Songkran. As you avail cheap flights to Thailand in the month of March and April, schedule your holiday in a way that you are able to attend this annual event.

Songkran means ‘water fight’. This event takes place in April when the heat in Thailand gets harder to bear. In such a climate this festival rings joy and relief as you will feel all drenched in water loosening up like children playing on the streets throwing water on each other. This rowdy festival is one of the largest water fights in the world and attending it will truly bring out the inner child in you.

As you plan to attend Songkran, take out at least three days in your vacation schedule so that you can enjoy this festival to the fullest. You will love how locals celebrate this festival and enjoy with each other. Crowds are lively and the overall environment is very cheerful.

Songkran Festival is celebrated by the locals as a festival of purification. The festival starts with cleaning the houses and streets with water. The Buddha statues are polished and washed with scented water and then decorated accordingly. To show respect towards elders, water is poured on their heads. After these initial starting ceremonies, the festival is kick-started in full enthusiasm in which everyone becomes a child and celebrates out in the streets.

This festival has deep-rooted religious values and significance, but the major attraction for tourists and youth is throwing water on random people. First people walk through streets as a procession and afterwards they disperse into a dancing and vibrant crowd throwing water on everyone within range.

You will be able to see water cannons and small cups which are used to throw water on each other. The overall atmosphere is very lively and you are guaranteed hours of fun and playing. The temperature in April is such that you will totally not mind the drenching and so, you will love indulging in this game with the locals.

Food is also served at its best along with drinks and traditional Thai delicacies. After you are done playing in the water, grab a dish of your choice and energize yourself with delicious cuisines.

Let us, for once, Celebrate Easter with a Splash!

Bachelor Holidays; to go, or not to go that is the question…

Five Cities Where Party does not stop

Underrated Beaches worth being ranked as “Wonders of the World”

Summer Vacation Ideas and Destinations

Book Your Summer Holiday Flights Early and Avail up to 20% Discount

Thailand is an amazing country without a doubt.
