We\u2019ve all been hearing tall stories about the breathtaking natural beauty of Uganda and some of us have also witnessed it but this time let us introduce you to another exotic feature of the country, food production and the delicious cuisines of the region that are simply irresistible. Among the splendid botanical gardens and forests lays a treasure of crops. Uganda is self sufficient of producing staple foods like maize, porridge and beans though merely about a quarter of its land is fertile. You will also find chicken, beef and mutton as a dominant part of their dishes that is cooked into the most scrumptious forms. Some of the local specialties that you must not miss out on include matoke that is a luscious staple made out from bananas, millet bread, cassava that is actually a root converted to flour, crispy fried crickets and the mouthwatering beef and chicken stews. These dishes are served at all major restaurants of Uganda and have to be tried for a delight along with pombe, fermented banana beer and waragi, millet alcohol, the most famous regional drinks.
