The Taste of Chicago is the world\u2019s largest food festival which is held annually in Grant Park for 10 days. Starting on the last Friday before the 4th<\/sup> of July and then ending after the Independence Day celebrations. It inaugurated on 4th<\/sup> of July, 1980 as a celebration of Chicago\u2019s unique cuisines. It generated huge sales from its first inception there the top restaurants invest heavily in this festival to try and get people to try out their unique dishes. As an outsider this festival provides the perfect opportunity to check out Grant Park, the amazing Chicago cuisines, family-oriented fun, live music entertainment, watch the Independence Day celebrations and participate in the amazing competitions and win big all in a space of a one day. The food festival features many different food stalls featuring traditional Chicago cuisines like the famous Chicago style deep-dish pizza with rich tomato topping, Chicago hot dogs, Italian beef, barbecued ribs, Maxwell Street Polish Sausage, the famous Eli\u2019s Cheesecake along with a wide variety of ethnic and regional foods like hummus, doner kebabs, falafels, corndogs, Vienna sausages, Indian curry etc. with more than 70 different food vendors the choices are aplenty. The live music scene has in the past featured big names like Carlos Santana, Kenny Rodgers, Moby etc. but now they hold their own country music festival in the same park in fall. Now the top features are usually local musicians or other patriotic Chicago originated bands. Country music is still the prevalent scene most of the time.<\/p>\n

Since this festival is centred for families there are also a large number of carnival rides including the Ferris wheel, bouncing castles and large trampolines separate for adults that are sponsored by the \u2018Jump your way to fitness\u2019 group. At night time the fireworks display is incredible and each year they try their best to outdo their last performance.<\/p>\n
