Lying within is also the \u2018Diwan-i-Am\u2019 which is a rectangular hall built over an area of 9 arches. It has an alcove where the royal throne stood beneath a marble canopy. The wall behind the throne is beautifully decorated with intricate panels of pietra dura work said to have been executed by a famous Florentine artist. The fort also consists of the \u2018Diwan-i-Khass\u2019 which is a highly ornamented hall whose famous marble Dias is claimed to have supported the popular Peacock throne which was eventually taken away by the Persian invader Nadir Shah.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Tasbih-khana\u2019 also known as the Chamber of counting beads consists of three rooms and is located within the Red Fort, behind the \u2018khwabgah\u2019 i.e. the sleeping chamber. The northern screen of the Tasbih-khana represents the scale of justice, suspended over a crescent amongst stars and clouds. Adjoining this is the wall of the Khwabgah, the eastern side from where the emperor is said to have appeared every morning before his subjects. Then there is also the grand \u2018Hammam\u2019, the bath which contains three main apartments separated by corridors. Marbles were used generously to build the interior even on floors and there were many stones inlaid.<\/p>\n
