Passengers are advised to start the check in process 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the flight.

Online check in also available and that can be done 24 hours prior to the departure of the scheduled flight.

Thai Airways baggage allowance:

Hand luggage: one bag is allowed weighing no more than 7 kg and with dimensions not exceeding 56cm + 46cm + 25cm.

Checked: Free luggage allowance of 20 kg is allowed for passengers travelling in economy class. 30 kg is allowed for passengers travelling in Business class and 40 kg is allowed for passengers travelling in First Class.

Excess: Excess luggage charges vary according to the route of the flight. Normally it is between £5 to £35 per kg depending on the destination.

Thai Airways legroom:

  • Seat Pitch: 34 inches (Economy Class)

  • Seat Pitch: 60 inches (Business Class)

  • Seat Pitch: 76 inches (First Class)

Pre-arranged seating:
Seats can be requested to the airline 48 hours prior to the departure of the scheduled flight. This is can be done at the booking time as well or at the time of check in.

On domestic flights passengers don’t get the facility to reserve seats.

Passenger change details:
Changes can be made depending on the fare rules and some admin charges may apply.

Child fares:
Children have to pay 75 % of the adult fare. Infants (under 2 years old) get a discount of 80 % of the adult fare. Infants also do not occupy a seat.

Senior fares:
There's no discount for older citizens.


  • Pets are allowed on Thai Airways. Normally with Thai Airways pets travel in hold. There may be some excess baggage charges for them.

  • Small animals like cats and dogs can travel in the cabin but their weight including the container should not exceed 10 kg.

  • Proper documentation should be provided to the airline in advance which is normally 48 hours prior to the departure of the scheduled flight.

Carrying musical instruments:
Passengers are allowed to carry musical instruments with themselves. But depending on their weight and size the airline decides if they will be transported via cargo or they will be allowed within the cabin.

In-flight service:
Thai Airways provides fine quality dining for its passengers. All drinks are complimentary. Passengers travelling in First Class can also pre-order their meals 72 hours prior to their scheduled flight.

On flight entertainment system is also available for the passengers that include selection of movies, music, games and other informational services for the passengers.

Air miles:
Thai Airways frequent flyer program is called Royal Orchid Plus.

In-flight magazine:
Thai Airways in flight magazine is called Sawasdee.
