Three men Arrested at Heathrow before Dubai flight took off

Police arrested three men on board an Emirates Airline plane at London’s Heathrow Airport on suspicion of making a bomb threat.

The suspects, aged 58, 48 and 36, were detained after a verbal threat was made to cabin staff before flight to Dubai took off late yesterday, the Metropolitan Police said in an e-mailed statement today. A search of the aircraft found nothing suspicious and the plane was released back to the airline, the police said.

The threat came amid heightened concerns about airline security after a Nigerian man attempted to bomb a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight carrying 290 people on Christmas Day. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the 23-year-old accused of trying to destroy the Northwest plane, pleaded not guilty to U.S. criminal charges yesterday.
