Munich Voted Best Airport in Europe

Once again, Munich has gained top marks for its services and passenger convenience. As in previous years, Terminal 2 achieved the highest approval rating from customers in the 2008 World Airport Awards
.
For the fourth time in succession, Munich was voted the best airport in Europe. Lufthansa’s hub in Southern Germany was also ranked second worldwide in the “Best Transit Airport” category, and moved up to third place in the “Best Airport Dining” category. The results owe much to Terminal 2, which is used by Lufthansa, Star Alliance and Lufthansa’s partner airlines.

At no other major European airport can passengers transfer from one flight to another faster than in Terminal 2. Thanks to the special design of the building, transit passengers can catch their connecting flights within 30 minutes. More than 300 flight information displays throughout the terminal inform passengers after their arrival about their onward connections. A special free service is available for travellers in a hurry.

If their aircraft is parked on the apron, passengers on flights with short connecting times are picked up straight from their plane by car and driven to their onward flight. Passengers arriving at the terminal building itself can also take advantage of a special service if time is tight. In such cases, they are escorted personally to their connecting flight by a staff member.

Terminal 2 is also renowned for its shopping and restaurant facilities. Passengers have a choice of more than 100 retail outlets and restaurants where they can while away the time until their flight departure. Twenty restaurants offer international cuisine ranging from upscale dining to fast food for passengers with little time to spare.

Terminal 2 was opened on 29 June 2003 and is operated jointly by Munich Airport and Lufthansa. Since its opening, the terminal has consistently received top marks in passenger surveys.
