China southern airlines to adjust schedule for Australia

News added by Victor Hunt under Airline News

Falling demand has forced China Southern Airlines to  adjust its Australia-China schedule for flights between August and October.

Under its new schedule, the airline will operate five weekly nonstop flights from Sydney to Guangzhou and increase to three weekly its one-stop flights from Melbourne – via Sydney - to Guangzhou.

“The new schedules are part of a network-wide strategy to respond positively to reduced demand due to the economic downturn,” said James Liu, regional manager - Australia for China Southern Airlines.  “In difficult times these changes minimise the impact on Australian travellers by maintaining schedule frequency and choice from both Sydney and Melbourne.”
