Cheap flights to New Zealand makes Australia more attractive for Immigrants

Flights across the Tasman Sea costing as little as Aus$80 are expected to make living and starting work in Australia or New Zealand an even more attractive prospect for British people looking to start a new life in the South Pacific region. An initiative is calling for the abolition of government-related charges for flights to Australia and New Zealand, as well as more relaxed immigration processes.

This would enable airlines to provide much cheaper, quicker and easier flights between the two countries.

The details of the plan are to be outlined during a joint press conference planned for Thursday between the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, and the New Zealand permier, John Key.

The plans are expected to include the scrapping of departure tax, duplication of customs, security and quarantine checks and would also allow planes to land on domestic terminals instead of international terminals which can be vulnerable to delays and crowding.

Young people working and living in Australia or New Zealand on working visas are set to particularly benefit from the plans as they will be able to travel between the two very popular destinations very cheaply.

Changes that are made to the air travel between Australia and New Zealand are likely to be introduced in stages.
