Airlines let more customers change planned Mexican flights

News added by Fred under Airline News

Several airlines have further relaxed rebooking restrictions for tickets to Mexico because of increased concern about the spread of swine flu in that country. Two airlines — Air Canada, which has connecting flights to Mexico from Mitchell International Airport, and WestJet — say they’re going to temporarily stop flying to Mexico.

Several airlines that fly to Mitchell have extended the dates that they will allow customers to change their bookings for free. They include United Airlines, US Airways, Airtran Airways and Continental Airlines customers who booked Mexico tickets through May 15 and American Airlines customers with departures scheduled through May 16.

Most major airlines that have flights from the US. to Mexico decided Monday to let customers with bookings to Mexico before May 6 to change their tickets for free. The airlines extended that deadline after the U.S. government recommended that people avoid nonessential travel to Mexico.
