The Latvian national airline airBaltic will launch nonstop flights  to Frankfurt from Riga, Germany, on September 17 of this year. This is the sixth nonstop destination for airBaltic in Germany.

Tero Taskila, the Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic: “We’re delighted to expand the airBaltic network of routes with Europe’s financial capital, Frankfurt. This new route will ensure convenient connections to final destinations in Scandinavia, the CIS, the Caucasus, and the Middle East.”

“airBaltic will offer nonstop flights from Riga to Frankfurt on a daily basis – seven flights per week in total. Passengers will fly on a Boeing 737 airplane for a flight that will last for 2 hours and 15 minutes. One-way ticket prices will start at LVL 27 (EUR 38), including airport and transaction fees,” airBaltic informed.

Other destinations which airBaltic has started offering from Riga this year include Turku (Finland), Tromsø (Norway), Palanga and Kaunas (Lithuania), Tartu (Estonia), Pskov (Russia), Warsaw (Poland), Geneva (Switzerland), and Dushanbe (Tajikistan).

Frankfurt is Germany’s fifth largest city, and for centuries it has been the country’s political, trade and financial centre. The European Central Bank is headquartered in Frankfurt, as are German’s largest commercial banks. The Frankfurt Stock Exchange is Germany’s largest exchange, and one of the largest exchanges in the world. Frankfurt hosts many global exhibitions and trade fairs each year, including the world’s largest auto show, book fair and music fair. Frankfurt is also the birthplace of Johann von Goethe and the Rothschild dynasty.
