Air China launches scheduled flights to Taiwan

Air China, a Mainland China air carrier, launched scheduled flights to Taiwan at the end of August, according to the company’s chairman Cai Jianjiang.The company is operating 27 return flights a week which cover six routed between both sides of the Taiwan Straits.

The flights go between Taoyuan airport in Taipei and the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou and Tianjian, Cai Jiangjiang said.According to the chairman of Air China Taiwan’s civil aviation authorities granted the airline a license on 13 August, which made it possible to set up an office on the island.

On 7 July China’s Civil Aviation Authority, which has its headquarters on mainland China, published a flight schedule between Mainland China and Taiwan for nine passenger airlines and two cargo airlines.These airlines will run scheduled or charter flights between Taiwan and 27 cities in Mainland China.

On 26 April, the two sides of the Taiwan Straits signed a deal in Nanjing to establish daily charter flights.
