The gateway to southern Vietnam, Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) is a popular airport, located around 6 km / 4 miles from central Ho Chi Minh City and directly south of Ap Lan Nhi and west of No Trang Long and Không Gia Dinh. Formerly known as Saigon Airport, this facility is lacking in most basic modern airport facilities, despite at one time having been the third-busiest airport in the entire world.
Facilities: The airport is small and overcrowded and patience is often required, however the facilities are perfectly adequate. The tourist information desk at the international arrivals exit can help with hotel reservations. Foreign exchange kiosks are available outside both international arrivals and departures. A post office is outside the arrivals terminal.Tan Son Nhat International Airport's terminal is home to a centrally located currency exchange booth where you can obtain Vietnam Dongs (VND), along with a post office and international telephone booths. There is one café onsite serving basic refreshments, as well as a small gift shop and a duty-free area on the second level of departures.
Getting to the city: Minibuses and metered taxis are available for transport to the city centre. Make sure the driver is wearing an official name badge and that the meter is on. Most hotels can arrange transport for arriving passengers, but visitors should organise this in advance.
Car Rental: There are no car hire rentals at the airport.
