Manila's international airport is situated just 11 km / 7 miles from the downtown area and provides the chief gateway for entry to the Philippines from overseas. The two-terminal facility offers all essential amenities including ATMs, bureaux de change, shops and restaurants. There are a number of ways to get to the city from Ninoy Aquino Airport, with a taxi being the most convenient transport option.
Getting to the city: There is an airport bus service to the city centre, and regular buses including Alladin Transit, Baliwag Transit and Dominion Transit that leave from outside the airport every 15 minutes to destinations along Manila's ring road. Colourful 'Jeepneys' offer services between the airport and a Metrostar Express rail terminal, which connects to the city centre. Taxis are available outside the airport and can be arranged at the Taxi Office inside. Car rental is also available at the airport.
Avoid the private taxis and be sure to get the official registered cabs that are available immediately outside of the airport building. The duration of the journey to the city varies from 30 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on traffic and the time of day.
Facilities: Passenger services at Manila airport include shops, restaurants and bars; ATMs, banks with currency exchange, left-luggage and postal services. The airport is hot and uncomfortable, however there is an excellent lounge, the Manila Lounge, which offers showers, clean toilets, drinks, magazines and newspapers for only US$11, or free for Diners Club members.
Departure Tax: P750 (international), P200 (domestic).
