Located 4km southeast of the city lays the Khartoum International Airport. It is the only international airport of Sudan and is a limited one. There are no facilities available at the airport except snack machines and toilets for the passengers.

It is said that a new airport will be replacing this one in the year 2012 with 86,000 square meters passenger terminal, 4000 meter long runway and a 300-room international hotel.
The airlines operating at this airport are; Ethiopian Airline (ET), Emirates (EK), Turkish Airline (TK), Qatar Airways (QR), Royal Jordanian (RJ), Royal Dutch KLM (KL) and Air France (AF).
