King Shaka International Airport (DUR), located 35km north of central Durban, is a new airport. It replaced the former Durban International Airport on May 1, 2010, just about a month before the FIFA World Cup 2010 when South Africa hosted the event and welcomed numerous football fans from around the world. 

The newly built airport is featured with a lot many facilities including:

•  Duty free shopping
•  Meeting and conference facilities
•  Restaurants and bars
•  Money exchange facility, ATMs and bank
•  Pharmacy and first-aid facilities
•  Muslim prayer hall
•  Car rental, taxi and shuttle service

There is no accommodation available within the airport premises; however you can find bed & breakfast in the vicinity of the building. Hotel reservation desks are available at the arrival hall.
