Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (formerly Beirut International Airport) is located 9 km (5.6 mi) from the city centre in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon and is the only operational commercial airport in the country. It is the hub for Lebanon's national carrier, Middle East Airlines (more commonly known as MEA). It is also the hub for the currently grounded cargo carrier Trans Mediterranean Airways (more commonly known as TMA Cargo), as well as the new start-up charter airline, MenaJet.

Getting to city:

There are no official bus services from the airport. Minibuses are available from the departures level and provide transport to the Charles Helou Bus Station in Beirut for 750 lira (under US$1). Taxis are available to the city centre for around 15,000 lira or US$20. They leave from outside both the arrival and departures terminal.

Car Rental: Car rental companies at the airport include Avis, National, CA Trans, City Car, Europcar, Hertz and Hala.


Facilities: Facilities include a bank and ATMs, duty free shops, cafés and restaurants, a postal service, ticket offices, Internet kiosks and public telephones.


Parking: The airport has parking facilities for 2,350 cars, with nine entrances and exits. Part of the car park is currently sealed off and will be opened in the future when needed.
