Virgin Atlantic is known for giving a tough competition to the Britain Flagship carrier British Airways. It currently operates between the United Kingdom and North America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia from main bases at Gatwick and London Heathrow Airport.  In UK, Virgin has routes available to and from London, Glasgow and Manchester.
  • Virgin Atlantic flies to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Los Vegas, Orlando, Miami, Washington, Chicago, New York and Boston in the USA.

Boeing 747-400s are used on all routes from Gatwick and Glasgow. Boeing 747s and Airbus A340s are used interchangeably on routes from Heathrow and Manchester. The seat map for Boeing 747-400 is Upper Class 1:1, Premium Economy 2:4:2, Economy 3:4:3 with a few 2:4:2 seats towards the exit.
  • Baggage Allowance: Virgin offers 2 piece hand luggage for business class (6 kilos each), one piece of hand luggage for economy (6 kilos only) and the same for children above 2 to 11 years. The checked in baggage is1 piece for economy (23 kilos), 2 pieces for Premium (23 kilos each) and 3 pieces for Upper class (23 kilos each). Infants only get a 6 kilos hand carry which is other than a cat-seat or buggy or bassinet if carried. 
  • In-Flight Food & Entertainment: Personal TV, entertainment, drinks, bar in the upper class and fine dining in all classes are the specialty of Virgin Atlantic. Also, Virgin is a winner of In-flight entertainment award (Zagat Survey).
  • Kids Aboard: Virgin is a child friendly airline. It offers 25 % off on base fare for children traveling accompanied (under 11 / above 2). Infants with a seat get 25% off while infants without a seat get 90% off on their base fares (without taxes).
